Departure Tax: Many countries charge a departure taxto leave the country whether by air or by boat. Check your tickets because in some countries this tax will be included in the ticket such as the Untied States. Flying Times: Galeao-Antonio C Jobim International(GIG) Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo/International-Guarulhos(GRU) Sao Paulo to Miami flying time would be about 9 hours, to New York flying time is approximately 11 hours and flights to western Europe run about 12 hours.
Getting There By Water: Rio de Janeiro is the main portused by cruise ships, other main ports are Vitoria, Salvador, Recife Fortaleza, Poto Allegre and Manaus
Several ferry boats and Hydrofoils are available for the many river crossing into neighboring Uruguay, Paraguay and Argentina.
Getting there by Train:Brazil International train travels between Corumba Brazil and Santa Cruz Bolivia, the locals have named the train Trem de Morte (Train of Death)
Getting There by Car or Bus: International bus service to adjoining countries are available from the capital as well as major cities through out Brazil. Many roads and bridge crossings are available into surrounding countries of Argentina, Paraquay, Bolivia and Uruguay as well as ferry boat service across the many rivers.
It is advised at time of travel to check with your local Embassy on the road conditions and safety in the area of travel.
