Departure Tax: Many countries charge a departure tax to leave the country whether by air or by boat. Check your tickets because in some countries this tax will be included in the ticket such as the Untied States. Most South American and Central American countries will charge a departure tax as you leave the country.
Peru’s departure tax of US $30.25 from Lima’s airport. Transit passengers and children under two years of age are exempt. Payment must be paid in cash prior to boarding.
Flying Times: Jorge Chavez International Airport in Lima to Miami flying time would be about 6 hours, to New York flying time is approximately 9 hours and flights to western Europe run about 12 hours.
Getting There By Water: Peru main port is Callao and San MARTIN located on the Pacific coast is frequented by ships and cruise lines from United States as well as Central America and South America . Boat service is available on Lake Titicaca with Hydrofoils and Catamarans crossing to Bolivia
Getting there by Train: Peru to the south has train service between Tacna Peru and Arica Chile.
Getting There by Car or Bus: International bus service to adjoining countries are available from the capital of Lima as well as the major cities through out the country. Beginning in Ecuador the Pan American highway travels south through Peru into Chile. There is also bus service to neighboring Ecuador, Chile and Bolivia. Entering from Bolivia is made by way of Lake Titicaca. From Brazil it is possible to enter Peru from Inapari.
