A trip to Phuket Island, Thailand, has so much to offer, beaches, towns to explore, great restaurants and shops, and stunning scenery. No matter what your vacation style is, you'll find it all here. You can spend the day relaxing in the sun and on the sand, or you can indulge your desire to explore the outdoors with some more adventurous activities. If shopping and checking out the local restaurants is more your thing, you'll find plenty of opportunities to do that as well.
Phuket Island is the biggest island in all of Thailand, and can be accessed from the main land by two different bridges. It used to be an area that was known for its production of tin and rubber, though much of the industry there now is focused on tourism. It has a hot climate, with warm weather all year. Temperatures tend to stay between 73 degrees Fahrenheit and 91 degrees, depending on the season. There is an airport at the northern end of the island, and you can also get around the island by bus or taxi.
The beaches in Phuket Island are almost legendary, and you'll find clear blue skies, sparkling azure seas, and soft white sand. One of the most popular beaches is Patong Beach, which has an idyllic stretch of sand as well as plenty of nightlife and town areas to explore. For a more deserted, secluded option, try Kata Noi Beach. It's quieter than some of the main beach resorts, and can be the perfect spot to just relax and enjoy the company that you are with. While you're at one of these great beaches, consider participating in an activity such as snorkeling, boating, surfing, and a variety of other water sports.
Though there's plenty to do on the beaches in Phuket Island, the town of Phuket has much to offer as well. You'll find plenty of hotels, restaurants, stores, and other attractions. Dine in fancy restaurants where you can sample authentic Thai cuisine, or enjoy a quick meal in a more casual setting. There are some really unique sights to see while you are here as well - visit the Jui Tui Chinese Temple, Crocodile Farm and Tiger World, Monkey Hill in Phuket Town, or the Phuket Philatelic Museum. Once the sun goes down the fun continues on at one of the many hot spots for nightlife, whether you're looking for a fancy bar, a casual pub to grab a drink, or a club where you can dance the night away.
If you're willing to travel a bit further from Phuket Island, there are many gorgeous sights to see. Check out Phang Nga Bay, with stunning caves and rock formations. You may also want to visit Khao Sok National Park, where you can take a hike, view some unique animals, and just enjoy the beauty of nature that surrounds you. There are a number of other small islands around Phuket that are also quite nice, including Koh Racha, Koh Naka, Coral Island, and Ko Rang.
