Campinas Brazil

Campinas may not be located along the Brazilian coast, but it is a major destination for travelers seeking to learn more about the culture and lifestyle of Brazilians. With a population that reaches more than one million and a diversity that can be found nowhere else on Earth, Campinas is an ideal travel destination.

Campinas is located in the Sao Paulo plateau and is surrounded and engulfed by the Serra da Mantiqueira mountain range. Only about 80 kilometers north of Sao Paulo, Campinas is a popular weekend destination for the many citizens of the capital city. Campinas has long been known for its public parks and scenic views, both of which are found in many locations throughout the city. The excellent climate that Campinas offers is always inviting people to be outdoors and in the sun. Sunny and warm days occur more than 200 times throughout the year and the average temperature is just over 22 degrees Celsius.

Due to its geographical location, cool winds, and public regulations, Campinas has very little pollution and smog when compared to other large cities in South America. Regular rain throughout the year creates scenic and beautiful vegetation. Residents of the city rely on this rain for their livelihood as Campinas is a major agricultural center. Sugar can is the most abundant crop, but Campinas residents also thrive off of coffee been and cotton production.

The Viracopos International Airport is located just outside of downtown Campinas and is one of Brazil's major airports because of the wealth and size of the surrounding population. Campinas is also a major transportation center within Brazil as most major highways pass through the city en route to Sao Paulo and other major cities located throughout northern Brazil.

Campinas has always been one of the most important cultural centers in Brazil. The city is home to more than 10 universities and colleges, as well as a number of technical schools. Three theater houses, a symphony orchestra, multiple movie screens, several libraries, and a large number of galleries and museums all allow visitors and residents of Campinas to enjoy the cultural changes that are constantly occurring in South America.

Some of the more popular tourist destinations within Campinas include the Bosque dos Jequitibas, the Cathedal, the Central Market, the old Central Railway Station, the Lagoa do Taquaral Park, and the Centro de Convivencia. The large mountainous regions surrounding Campinas also lend themselves to exciting adventures, hikes, fishing, camping, and other outdoor activities. Visitors to Campinas will testify to the fact that the city truly does offer exciting activities for people from all across the globe.
