Located on the Northeast corner of Spain, the province of Navarre shares a boundary with France. The area is known for a number of activities including the stories of witches and covens that have inhabited the land. The land is very mountainous and the legends have produced a witchcraft route that allows you to follow the legendary trails of these stories of the 16th and 17th century. Navarre is the heart of the period known as the Spanish Inquisition and there are a number of historic locations along the route that are filled with legends and myths.
Navarre includes many great tourist attractions such as the Pamplona Catedral where you can explore the architecture of Spain as well as other ancient buildings and historic locations. Pamplona is also the location of the famed "running of the bulls" held every year in July. Other attractions include the Selva de Irati wildlife area in the hills above Pamplona as well as the Bardenas Reales de Navarro State Park, the Monasterio de Leyre; one of the oldest Monasteries in Pamplona dating back to the dark ages, the Royal Palace of Olite and the Museo del Encierro Museum.
The area of Navarre, Spain is bordered on the east by the Pyranees mountains and features mountainous weather conditions with opportunities for skiing and other winter and adventure sports. Stretching west and south of the Pyranees mountains, the land of Navarre includes amazing Spanish landscapes with opportunities for hiking, horseback riding, fishing, golfing or exploring one of the many groves that dot the landscape. One of the most historic and popular towns in Navarre is Tudela. Built in 1194, the town includes a 9th century monastery that was established just after Roman occupation of the land during the time of the Roman empire. The climate of the south plains is moderately warm with the weather turning colder the farther up the mountains you go.
