Taking a family vacation or a weekend getaway to a fantastic beach town can be the best thing you do for yourself all year. Panama City Beach, Florida has unbelievably white, sugary sand and emerald, blue-green water that everyone in your group will enjoy. The hotels on the Beach offer fantastic lodging and are surrounded by an assortment of restaurants from home-style cooking to four-star cuisine served in the Hilton dining room. There is a wide variety of things to see and do around Panama City, including plenty of exciting nightlife when the sun goes down.
Your family can stay right on these beautiful beaches and watch the sun set over the wide, expansive Gulf of Mexico in warm, rich colors. It’s like being in paradise, you are so close. During the days, you can go scuba diving, snorkeling or sports fishing or simply have fun swimming on the beach, kids playing in the waves. What a sensational way to spend the afternoon!
Panama City Beach offers fun and enjoyment for all ages including sports fishing and windsurfing. Any day is a good day when you're at the beach, and you can top off every day with a delicious Gulf coast fish and shrimp dinner that comes right off the boats to the local’s restaurants. It doesn’t get any fresher than that!
If you are interested in visiting beaches in the surrounding area, 50 miles on either side of Panama City, you’ll find incredible Florida beach towns. Traveling north is Sunnyside, Laguna Beach, Santa Rosa Beach, Fort Walton Beach, Pensacola and Gulfshore, right up the coast. Heading south there aren’t as many incorporated beaches, but it is spectacular coastline with Mexico Beach, Port Joe and St. Georges Island.
Many older couples and honeymooners prefer quieter beaches with less tourists and activity. The beach close to St. Andrews State Park has less traffic. Most tourists don’t want to drive that far. Tyndall Air Force Base beach also has fewer visitors because the beach is adjacent to miles of government land. Tourists like to stay closer to town with the restaurants, games and excitement. Wherever you decide to go, the beaches in the panhandle are worth the trip, and there is always plenty to do from the Seabreeze Jazz to world-class events to a candle light dinner overlooking the ocean.
