Tower of London

The Tower of London is a long standing palace located in London, England. The tower was ordered to be built by William the Conqueror in the 1080s. The Tower of London is part of the group of Historical Royal Palaces. It has a deep and sometimes dark history. It began as a fortress stronghold for the kingdom and was never really used as a main palace location. Throughout the centuries, it served many different functions. During the reign of the Tudors, it served as a royal prison. In the 19th century, it was deemed more of an ancient monument, but the 20th century saw a revamp of the place into a historical site and museum for the history of the royal families that reigned over the country.Tower of London, River Thames, London, England
