Florida’s Lee Island Coast

Florida's Lee Island Coast creates a picturesque scene of white powdered sand, crystal clear beach water, and a chance of a memorable vacation. Located on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico in Florida, Lee Island Coast encompasses all of Lee County. Beach lovers come from all parts of the country to see Lee County's almost 50 miles of unspoiled beaches.
 
One beach not to miss is Captiva Island which is located next to Sanibel Island. This is known as one of the more romantic beaches. Sanibel Island is known for its shelling. Avid shellers can find unique pieces of shell on these calm beaches. Paddle boarding, jet ski, and other water sports rentals are available along the coast. Cape Coral hosts an annual paddle board festival. Afternoon boat tours to observe dolphins in the wild are also available in Matlacha.

Whether its on the beach or on the course, Lee Island Coast is filled will year round outside activities. This subtropical climate is great for the outdoorsman. For the sports enthusiast, Lee county is also home to spring training for the Minnesota Twins and the Boston Red Sox.
With an airport located right inside of Fort Myers, this area is easy to get around. Once in downtown Fort Myers, there is a shopping cent which includes restaurants, Tanger Outlet stores, and night life. Bell Tower is a buzzing hotspot. Florida Gulf Coast University is located just down the road from the Bell Tower.
Also located in Fort Myers is a naturists dream: Butterfly Estates. This unique garden house gives an up close view at butterflies of all kinds. They also have a restaurant and gift store. Wildlife sanctuaries can be found in Lee Island Coast. This is important to the species of this area and gives visitors an insight to animals they may have never had contact with before.

 

For history buffs, there is multiple museums including one that showcases Thomas Edison and Henry Ford's winter homes. Visitors are able to take a tour of the 20 acres of land which includes botanical gardens, estate, and historic buildings.
A vacation in Lee Island Coast is worth the time and money. With so many activities and attractions, everyone should be able to find something they enjoy.
